Everything! The building is beautiful, old and elegant in appearance, with modern, very comfortable facilities. Our room was described as a 'standard double' but was about twice the size of double rooms in the many other hotels in which we have stayed. The towels, toiletries and refreshments were replenished daily. The gardens (grounds, really) are extensive, well-kept and lovely to walk around. The breakfasts were amazing, with a wide range of buffet style cold foods and hot meals freshly cooked to order. (Do try the smoked salmon and scrambled egg. It's fabulous!) All the staff, young and old were friendly, very helpful and welcoming, whether it was early morning or late evening. I have already recommended Alverton Manor to all our relatives, who are all determined to stay there sometime too.
the bed was comfy but the pillows was not to thin and puffy. not a big enough mirror in our room to see to use my hair straightners or the light was not very good to get ready to glam up for going out.the staff were brillant nothing to much trouble. a bit of walk into town but mostly flat road.
they just need to put abit more attention to details to the things in the rooms
food was excellent as was the srvice
drivingout to get to west side of town very tricky in the morning withh lots of traffic
Alverton Manor is an amazing place and certainly has the wow factor on arrival! All the staff young and older were brilliant - nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Although the car park is up a small hill from reception there is always a porter on hand to help you with your luggage. There is a night porter on duty from 11pm - 7am which is handy if you come back late or if you need anything during the night. The rooms are enormous, the beds comfortable and the bedding is cotton with soft snuggly duvets. Big white towels and bathrobes are supplied in the huge bathrooms and also a fair selection of toiletries. The cooked breakfast was excellent with a good choice of cereals, nuts, dried fruit, juices to start and plenty of fresh coffee, tea & toast supplied throughout This hotel is in an excellent location for the city (5 mins walk to the Cathedral) and has beautiful grounds with a lovely terrace. As some people have said previously, the decor is slightly tired (but not tatty) in places, however the new owners have begun an extensive refurbishment of the whole hotel. The day porter showed me the recently decorated honeymoon suite and it is stunning. If this is the standard they are working towards it will be fabulous. I would recommend you stay here if you are visiting Truro.
I could hear traffic noise all night from my room at the front - however as the hotel is situated up a slight hill and across gardens from the main road, it wasn't loud - rather more like a background sound which I found more soothing than intrusive. The windows in my room were huge and lead framed - in keeping with the building - and not double glazed, but they did have very thick lined curtains to keep out draughts and deaden noise. The heated towell rail/radiator in the bathroom wasn't working so the bathroom was quite cold in the morning - however when I reported it to the receptionist she was very apologetic and promised to have it mended in time for the next guest. Be warned the price quoted to stay here is for a room only - there is separate charge of £12.95 per person for breakfast!!
The atmosphere created by the building itself enhanced by the period furnishings. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff who also appeared to be enthusiastic about the building.
Quaint Manor style unlike the modern purpose built hotels. Friendly and helpful staff
Very friendly and cheerful staff. Interesting building.
No lift. No illumination to fire escape.
Most of the staff were very friendly and interested in how our day had been-especially the girl staff on the bar and in the restuarant. We did enjoy our stay.
The dinner menu was rather restricted in that there were not many main course dishes.
Location and setting. Friendliness of staff. Breakfast.Proximity ti City Centre.
Absence of a lift.
We found the staff very welcoming and friendly. They were without exception very helpful. The Hotel buildings were impressive and beatifully located among mature trees. The two bathrooms in our room were a great boon making it quicker to get down stairs to the excellent breakfasts.
There is no lift and the decor is a little faded.
nice atmosphere period hotel nice grounds
bit tired looking needs a bit of refurbishnment in places
its hard to say what Alverton Manor is like the only thing i can come up with was amazing we loved every moment we where there and the staff made us feel special i would and i have recommended this hotel to all my friends and family who are so jealous of the photos of the hotel they want to go there.
there was nothing to dislike
The atmosphere was great and the staff were very thoughtful. I liked the wi-fi in the room, I had matters to take care of and that was a great help. It was very comfortable.
The shower curtain. I know its very minor but there are better options out there and its a simple fix.
The location was good and the building very interesting as were the gardens and patio area. Staff were excellent and made the stay enjoyable as they were both charming and very helpful too-nothing was too much trouble.
I did think that there was need for refurbishment-the interior was a little "tired" in some areas-nonetheless it was very comfortable.
Room sizes very good Breakfast excellent Plenty of parking Free wifi thoughout hotel
Although room was spacious decor and furniture needs updating
